Grounding Instructions

Repairing the PE cable

If the PE cable breaks at coil end, follow these steps:
Risk of fire and explosion
Flammable vapours in the work area, such as solvent and paint fumes, can ignite or explode. Follow these steps to red-
uce the risk of fire and explosion:
Do not spray flammable or combustible liquids in cramped spaces.
The spray area must be well-ventilated at all times. The spray area should always be supplied with sufficient fresh
air.
Paint or solvent flowing through the spray gun may cause a static charge. Static electricity in the presence of paint
or solvent fumes represents a fire or explosion risk. The spray gun and all objects in the spraying area must be cor-
rectly earthed to provide protection against static discharge, sparks or electric shocks.
When spraying combustible materials or solvent-based materials that generate static electricity, always connect
the PE cable provided. See the instructions for grounding, page 124.
If sparks occur due to static electricity, or if you feel an electric shock, stop working immediately and connect the
spray gun to a properly grounded sockets using the supplied ground cable.
• Never spray flammable or combustible materials in the vicinity of open fire or ignition sources such as cigarettes,
external motors and electrical equipment.
Do not actuate or use light switches, motors or similar products that create sparks in the spraying area.
Take the spray gun from spra-
ying area to area where there
is no danger of explosion.
Insert the PE cable into the
spray gun.
1.
Unwind
the
PE
cable
from the ground coil and
prise
the
ground
apart with a flat screwdri-
ver.
2. Unscrew
the
terminal
and remove the broken
conductor. Insulate the
PE wire, push it into the
terminal and tighten the
screw.
3. Then latch the ground coil
back together.
If the PE cable breaks at the ground connector end, fol-
low these steps:

Unwind the PE cable from the
coil and plug into a correctly
grounded socket.
If the PE cable is not long
enough to reach a grounded
socket, you can use a groun-
ded 3-wire extension cable to
reach a grounded socket.
1.
Pull the rubber grom-
mets of the conductor of
the ground connector and
push the grommet over
the PE cable.
2. Unscrew the screw and
remove the broken con-
ductor. Replace the strip-
ped PE cable and tighten
the screw.
3. Reattach
the
rubber
grommet to the ground
connector.
