Problem
Water accumulates
under the power
base or runs down
on the exterior of
the kettle.
The temperature is
set to 100°C, but
the water is not
boiling.
The kettle does not
shut off automa-
tically when the
water is boiling.
The base gets unex-
pectedly hot during
operation.
74
Reason
There is too much water in the
kettle.
You spilled some water when fil-
ling or moving the kettle.
The kettle is leaking.
During the cooking time ("Stee-
ping") the maximum temperature
is limited to 90-95°C. With the
keep warm function ("Warm"),
the maximum temperature is limi-
ted to 80°C.
The lid is not closed.
You are using the appliance at
high altitude.
The power cord has been wound
partly around the cable storage
during operation.
The power socket in the centre of
the power base or the pins at the
bottom of the kettle are polluted,
damp, damaged or corroded.
The power cord is damaged.
The Solution
Immediately unplug the appliance. Then wipe dry
the appliance completely. Always observe the maxi-
mum filling level when filling (see: 'Technical Spe-
cifications').
Immediately unplug the appliance. Then wipe dry
the appliance completely. Ensure not to spill water
on the exterior of the kettle during filling. Always
ensure to hold the kettle level when it is filled.
Immediately unplug the appliance and wipe dry
the appliance completely. Then check the kettle for
leakage. Do not use the appliance, if the kettle is
leaking.
This is normal. No action required.
The temperature control will only work correctly
with the kettle closed via a complete lid set. Cover
the kettle by the appropriate lid set.
At high altitude, the ambient pressure is reduced,
leading to a somewhat lower boiling tempera-
ture. Thus, the temperature for automatic shut off
(100°C) cannot be reached. Switch off the kettle
manually.
Always unwind the power cord completely before
operation to avoid overheating.
Immediately unplug the appliance. Check the power
connection at the bottom of the kettle and the
power socket of the power base for moisture, dis-
colouration, distortion or corrosion. Do not use the
appliance again, if the pins are not smooth and cle-
an. There is no use in trying to clean or repair the
pins of the power connector as the power socket in
the power base will be affected as well.
Contact an authorised service centre for replacement.
