• Keep protective devices, air vents and the engine
housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Blow it
out with low-pressure compressed air.
• Clean the product at regular intervals using a damp
cloth and a little detergent. Make sure that no water
can penetrate the interior of the product.
11.2 Cleaning the air filter (40) and foam filter (40a)
(Fig. 16, 17)
Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to
reduced air supply to the carburettor.
Regular inspection is therefore essential. The air filter
(40) and the foam filter (40a) should be checked reg-
ularly and cleaned if necessary.
The air filter (40) must be checked more frequently
in the case of very dusty air. To do this, proceed as
follows:
1. Loosen the Allen screw with a 4 mm Allen key.
2. Remove the front air filter cover (2).
3. Remove the foam filter (40a).
4. Loosen the four Allen screws with a 4 mm Allen
key (37).
5. Remove the air filter (40).
6. Clean the foam filter (40a) under running water
and the air filter (40) by blowing it out.
7. Allow the foam filter (40a) to air dry.
8. The re-assembly takes place in reverse order.
m ATTENTION
Never clean the air filter (40) or foam filter (40a) with
petrol or flammable solvents.
11.3 Spark plug maintenance (Fig. 18)
1. Remove the air filter (40) and the foam filter (40a)
as described in 12.2.
2. Remove the spark plug cover (31).
3. Remove the spark plug connector (30) by turning
it to the left and right and pulling it at the same
time. Hold and pull the spark plug connector (30)
by the connector only. Never pull on the cable!
4. Loosen the spark plug with the enclosed spark
plug wrench (32).
5. The re-assembly takes place in reverse order.
Electrode gap = 0.6 - 0.7 mm (distance between the
electrodes, between which the ignition spark is gen-
erated). Check the spark plug for dirt for the first time
after 10 operating hours and clean it with a copper
wire brush if necessary.
Then service the spark plug every 50 operating hours.
Note
Have carburettor adjustments (e.g. idle speed) car-
ried out only by qualified specialists to avoid engine
damage.

11.4 Tightening the V-belt (26) (Fig. 12, 13)
1. Remove the front belt cover (22) by loosening the
two Allen screws (22a).
2. Loosen the hexagonal screws (29) with the en-
closed 10 mm open-ended spanner (34).
3. Turn the belt tensioner (28) in the desired direction
using a 13 mm open-ended spanner to increase
or decrease the belt tension.
4. Tighten the hex bolts again (29).
11.5 Replacing the V-belt (26) (Fig. 12 - 14)
1. Remove the front belt cover (22) by loosening the
two Allen screws (22a).
2. Remove the hexagonal screws (29) with the en-
closed 10 mm open-ended spanner (34).
3. Remove the rear belt cover (24) by removing the
fastening nuts (23) with a 13 mm open-ended
spanner.
4. Remove the retaining plate (24a) by removing the
Allen screw (24b). Use the 4 mm Allen key (37)
provided for this.
5. Replace the V-belt (26).
6. Fitting takes place in reverse order.
11.6 Replacing the fuel filter (Fig. 15)
1. Open the fuel tank cap (10) and pull the fuel filter
(39) through the opening using a wire hook (not
included in the scope of delivery).
2. Pull the petrol filter (39) from the fuel line and
replace it with a new one.
11.7 Maintenance intervals
The information given here refers to normal operating
conditions. In difficult conditions, such as heavy dust
generation or longer daily working hours, the specified
intervals should be shortened accordingly.
12. Repair & ordering spare parts
After repairs or maintenance, make sure that all safe-
ty-related parts are installed and are in perfect con-
dition. All parts which may cause injury must be kept
where they are inaccessible to children or others.
Attention: According to the German Product Liabili-
ty Act, no liability is accepted for damage caused by
improper repairs or by not using original spare parts.
Such work should be performed by a customer ser-
vice centre or an authorised specialist. The same ap-
plies to accessory parts.
