• Do not work with one hand. Only operate the ma-
chine with both hands and a firm grip on both han-
dles.
• Warning! During operation, the machine produces
exhaust gases containing hydrocarbons and ben-
zene. When working in depressions, trenches or
similar, always ensure sufficient ventilation. Danger
to life due to poisoning.
• Do not smoke when using or in the immediate vicin-
ity of the device. Fire hazard!
• Check the work site for pipework or electrical ca-
bles.
• Do not leave the engine running unattended. Al-
ways switch off.
• Before placing the device on the ground, always
switch off the engine and allow the cutting wheel to
come to a standstill.
5.8 Vibrations
m WARNING
Avoid the risks associated with vibration, e.g. the risk
of white finger syndrome (circulatory disorders).
Raynaud's syndrome is a vascular disease that caus-
es the small blood vessels on the fingers and toes to
cramp in spasms. The symptoms include: Numbness,
loss of sensitivity, tingling, itching, pain, decrease in
strength, change of colour or condition of the skin.
The affected areas are no longer supplied with suf-
ficient blood and therefore appear extremely pale.
The frequent use of vibrating tools can cause nerve
damage in people whose circulation is impaired (e.g.
smokers, diabetics).
If you notice unusual adverse effects, stop working
immediately and seek medical advice. For long-term
and regular users, it is therefore recommended that
you keep a close eye on the condition of your hands
and fingers.
Observe the following information to reduce hazards:
• Keep your body warm, especially your hands, es-
pecially in cool weather.
• Take regular breaks and move your hands to pro-
mote circulation.
• Limit the use of high-vibration tools per day and
spread them out over several days. Make a work
plan that limits the vibration load.
• Ensure that the device vibrates as little as possible
through regular maintenance and fixed parts on the
device. Replace worn components immediately.
• Change your working position regularly.
• If the machine is to be used or operated frequently,
you should contact your specialist dealer and re-
quest anti-vibration accessories (handles) if appli-
cable.
5.9 Safety functions of the cutter (Fig. 1)
• The throttle interlock (6) prevents the engine from
randomly accelerating. The throttle lever can only
be pressed when the throttle interlock is pressed.
• The cutting wheel guard (13) protects the user of
the cutter in the following way:
- Spark and splinter protection: It prevents sparks
and splinters generated during cutting from flying
towards the user and causing injury.
- Prevention of contact: By almost completely en-
closing the cutting wheel, it reduces the risk of the
user accidentally coming into contact with the ro-
tating wheel, thereby preventing cutting injuries.
- Protection in the event of damage: If the cutting
wheel breaks, the cutting wheel guard contains
the fragments and protects the user from possi-
ble injury.
5.10 Precautionary measures against kick-back
When working with the cutter, you may encounter a
hazardous kickback or pulling.

Danger due to setback
Watch out for kick-back when working with the de-
vice. There is an increased risk of injury.
In the event of a kickback, the cutter is suddenly and
uncontrollably propelled towards the user.
A setback occurs when:
• The abrasive cutting wheel jams.
• The abrasive cutting wheel is mainly used in the
upper quarter.
• The abrasive
decelerated by frictional contact.
Kickback is the result misuse and/or incorrect oper-
ating procedures or conditions. It can be prevented
by suitable precautionary measures, as described in
the following:
• Hold the device firmly with both hands, with the
thumbs and fingers enclosing the handles. Bring
your body and arms into a position in which you
can absorb the kick-back forces. If suitable meas-
ures are implemented, the operator will be able to
withstand the kick-back forces. Never let go of the
device.
• Avoid an unusual body stance and never work
above shoulder height.
• Do not work in the upper quarter of the abrasive
cutting wheel.
• Only insert the abrasive cutting wheel into a cut
with care, do not tilt it or push it in.
• Avoid wedge effect, the cut-off part must not slow
down the abrasive cutting wheel.
• Objects to be cut off must not lie unsupported and
must always be secured against slipping, rolling
away and vibrations.
