Operation
Figure 1-10 shows the system configuration (outline). If the A/D
converter is connected, the analog signal inputted into the record
input terminal passes through LPF and then enters into the A/D
converter where it is converted into digital signal which is inputted
into the signal processing LSI. in the case of digital recording the
digital input signal is inputted into the signal processing LSI
through the digital interface.
In the signal processing LSI the
inputted signal is once stored in the memory. The signal
processing LSI calculates the parity of two series (C1 and C2) of
inputted data which is also written in the main memory. On the
other hand, the subcode information (program number, program
time, etc.) which is sent from the system microcomputer is also
stored in the memory. The signal processing LSI fetches data in
data format order on the tape from the memory while the rotary
head traces the tape, executes 8-10 conversion, and outputs the
converted signal, adding the sync signal and ATF signal. The
Outputted data is recorded on the tape through the recording
amplifier.

Inthe playback mode the signal fetched from the head is amplified
by the playback amplifier, and then it is converted into 1 and 0
signals by the comparator, and the converted signals are fetched
into the signal processing LSI through the playback clock PLL.
After sync detection and 8-10 reverse conversion the fetched
data is written in the memory. On the other hand the ATF signal
is sent to the servo control. The signal processing LSI executes
error detection, correction, deinterleave and interpolation of
fetched data and outputs it to the D/A converter and digital
interface. The signal processed in the D/A converter is sent to
the low-pass filter to get analog signal. The subcode data is sent
to the system microcomputer. The program number and time
code are indicated. The subcode data is used also for various
controls.
The ATF signal and sensor information from the mechanism are
inputted into the servo control to contro! various motors. The
mechanism
