III. Preparing
the generator
before starting it
ATTENTION
y Not adhering to the procedure described below will
result in not being able to start-up the generator.
y When using gas as a fuel, it is necessary to pour petrol
into the petrol tank of the generator and it is necessary
to start using the petrol before switching over to gas-
-powered operation - see below.
INSPECTING THE MACHINE BEFORE STARTING IT
1. Check the oil level in the oil pan.
The level of motor oil type
SAE 15W40 must be at the level
shown in the figure. When the oil
level is low, it will not be possible
to start the generator because of
sensor protection of the engine
will prevent it. The volume speci-
fied in the technical specificati-
ons (chapter II) may not necessa-
rily correspond to reality with
respect to the possible change in
the volume of the oil pan in the
engine during its manufacture.
2. The power button must be in
the "OFF" position.
3. Set the gas valve
lever to the
"OFF" position
as shown in the
figure.
4. Set the petrol
valve to the "0" position as shown in the figure.
5. Pour fresh petrol into the fuel tank, without oil,
e.g. Natural 95; 98 (an equivalent of
Natural 95 or 98 with 10% ethanol con-
tent designated according to EN 228 as
Super BA 95 E10 or Super Plus BA 98 E10
can be used).
According to norm ČSN 65 6500, the time limit for the
usability of petrol is only 3 months because the most
volatile compounds of the petrol vaporise and cause
problems with starting up the engine. We recommend
using a fuel conditioner (available for purchase at, for
example, a petrol station) because a quality conditio-
ner effectively eliminates potential start-up problems.
A very well proven conditioner is the Wynn's brand
under the name DRY FUEL from the Belgian manu-
facturer.

WHEN USING GAS AS THE FUEL, CONNECT IT
ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE
1.5 kg/h
30-50
mbar
1. Close the valve on the propane-butane gas vessel or natu-
ral gas mains line according to the indicated direction.
2. On to the gas outlet from the propane-butane pres-
sure vessel, screw on a pressure reduction valve
designed for supplying gas stoves or cooktops with
an output pressure of 30 mbar and a maximum gas
flow rate of 1.5 kg per hour, e.g. model HERON®
8898300. It is not possible to connect the generator
to a propane-butane pressure vessel without pressu-
re reduction. The pressure regulator model HERON®
8898300 is equipped with a nozzle that allows the gas
hose to be easily slid on. Before screwing the pressure
regulator on to the gas outlet thread, we recommend
winding Teflon tape for gas installations on to the
thread of the pressure vessel in order to seal the con-
nection. In the case of natural gas, the pressure must be
in the range 20-42 mbar with a supply of 0.35 m
3. Connect the gas hose with an internal diameter of
8 mm, e.g. Extol® Premium 8848121 to the gas regu-
lator and to the generator, and secure the hose in place
at the connection point to the generator and to the
pressure regulator using a metal hose clamp (see figure),
(in the event that the hose is connected to the regula-
tor by being slid on to the nozzle and not by means of
a flange). In the event that the gas hose with an internal
0
diameters of 8 mm cannot be easily slid on to the nozzle
of the generator and gas pressure regulator, then appro-
priately heat up the slide on part using a hot air gun, so
that the plastic becomes more plastic (softer) but it at
1
the same time is not melted or burned. After heating up
the end of the hose, immediately slide it on to the nozzle
and secure it in place by pulling tight a clamping band.
IV. Starting and turning off
the generator
STARTING THE GENERATOR
ATTENTION
y When intending to use gas as the fuel,
it is necessary to first start the genera-
tor using petrol as the fuel according
to the described procedure.
