The connection to the natural gas (or propane-butane)
mains distribution system may, due to safety reasons,
only be performed by an authorised person that must
also perform an audit of the installed connection. The
requirements for the maximum usable pressure and
flow rate of the supplied gas are specified in chapter
III. Technical specifications or in chapter Starting the
generator. The connection of the generator to a mains
gas distribution system (pipes) must meet the require-
ments of the current wording of the Technical guideline
TPG G 800 03 with the title "Connecting gas-powered
equipment an its commissioning". The hoses supply-
ing propane-butane or natural gas from internal gas
systems (gas pipes) in buildings to the generator must
meet the norms EN 14800 or EN 1762 as specified in art.
5.7 of norm EN 1775, which set the requirements for the
hoses for supplying gas from indoor gas distribution
systems in buildings. The norm EN 1775 is implemented
into the technical guidelines TPG 70401 under the title
"Gas-powered equipment and appliances using gaseous
fuels in buildings". In the event that on the fixed gas
pipe system there is a coupler for the quick connection
and disconnection of the hose from the connection to
the equipment/appliances, then according to the requi-
rements of art. 5.7.2 of EN 1775, it must tightly seal itself
and must prevent gas from leaking out of the gas distri-
bution system. This coupler must be designed in such
a way that it is not possible to accidentally disconnect
the hose or to connect it incorrectly.
For supplying propane-butane to the generator from
a standard propane-butane pressure vessel, the gas
hose or the supply pipe, or possibly assembly, must
meet norm EN 16436-1, or possibly EN 16436-2, if it does
not meet norm EN 14800 or EN 1762, e.g. gas hose for
propane-butane Extol® Premium 8848121.
The generator must not be connected directly to the
propane-butane pressure vessel without a pressure
reduction valve intended for this type of propane-
-butane pressure vessel, which is used, for example, for
supplying gas stoves or cookers. The pressure regulator
for PB pressure vessels must have an output pressure of
PB 30-50 mbar with a gas flow rate of 1.5 kg/hour, e.g.
pressure regulator of the Meva brand. These pressure
regulators must meet norm EN 16129.
Request the safety instructions (user's manual) for the
use of propane-butane pressure vessels from the vendor
of these pressure vessels and follow these instructions.
ATTENTION
y In the event that there is an unusual noise, vibrations or
operation while the generator is running, immediately
turn off the generator and identify and rectify the cause
of this unusual operation. If the unusual operation is
caused by a fault inside the device, have it repaired at
an authorised generator service centre for the HERON®
brand through the vendor or directly at an authori-
sed service centre (service locations are listed at the
HERON® generators website address at the start of this
manual).
EN
VII. Connecting
electrical devices and
generator load-capacity
y It is possible to connect single-phase electrical devices
intended for standard 230 V~50 Hz mains power.
WARNING
y The generator must not be transported or moved
to a different location while it is running. Turn it off
before moving it.
For powering electrical devices it is necessary to re-
spect the following conditions, otherwise the powered
electrical devices or the generator may be damaged:
y The total nominal (operating) power input of all
the connected electrical devices must not exceed
the nominal (operation) electrical power out-
put of the generator. To determine the nominal
power input of an electrical device, it is possible
to use an affordable socket power input meter
(a wattmeter). The total power output of the
generator is understood to mean the total drawn
power input of all the electrical appliances con-
nected to the generator for a given power vol-
tage. The rated operating power output of the
generator is sufficient for powering the majority
of electrical devices - see later "Information about
power input of electrical devices".
y Turn on (start / put into operation) electrical
devices gradually one after the other with a time
interval in between and not all devices at the
same time. The large surge power input caused
by all the connected electrical devices being tur-
ned on may cause a voltage spike and damage
the connected electrical devices.
y The generator must not be concurrently used for
powering sensitive electrical devices (e.g. compu-
ter, TV, office equipment) and an electrical device
with a power electric motor, which has an impulse
ramp-up (starting) power input and fluctuating
power input based on the load placed on the
electric motor such as for example hand power
tools, compressors, high-pressure washers, etc.
since this may result in "peak" voltage spikes
(fluctuations), which may damage sensitive
electrical devices.
