• Where practical, remove the machine from the
truck or trailer and refuel on the ground. If this is
not possible, refuel the machine on the trainer with
a portable container and not with a fuel nozzle.
• Slowly loosen the fuel tank cover to release any
pressure in the tank.
• The fuel nozzle must remain in secure contact with
the fuel tank or container opening the entire time
until the end of the refuelling process. Do not use
any device that locks the fuel nozzle open.
• Never put too much fuel in the fuel tank. Do not fill
the tank more than 12.5 mm (1/2") below the bot-
tom end of the filling nozzle to allow for space to
expand because the heat of the engine and/or sun
causes the fuel to expand.
• Put all fuel tank and container covers back on again
tight and wipe off any spilled fuel. Never operate
the unit if the fuel tank cover is not tight.
• You must not start the engine if fuel has been
spilled. Move the machine away from the area of
the fuel spillage and prevent creating any ignition
sources until the petrol gases have dissipated. If
fuel has been spilled on you or your clothing, this
can result in serious bodily injuries if ignited. There-
fore, wash and change your clothing immediately.
• Store fuel in containers which are specifically de-
signed and approved for this purpose.
• Never refill the container in a vehicle or on a truck
or trailer with combustible cladding. Before refilling,
always position the container on the floor and far
enough away from your vehicle.
• Store fuel in a cool, well-ventilated place, at a safe
distance from sparks, naked flames or other sourc-
es of ignition.
• Never store fuel or machines with fuel in the tank in
a building where vapours could reach sparks, na-
ked flames or other ignition sources such as water
heaters, ovens, clothes dryers or similar. Allow the
engine to cool before storing the machine in en-
closed spaces.
Use and care of the machine
• Never pick up or carry the machine while the en-
gine is running.
• Do not exert any force on the machine. Use the ma-
chine for its intended purpose only.
• Do not change the settings on the speed control
and do not allow the engine to overrev. The speed
control controls the maximum safe operating speed
of the engine.
• Avoid contact with hot fuel, oil, exhaust gases and
hot surfaces. Do not touch the engine or exhaust
silencer. These parts become extremely hot during
use. They also remain hot for a long time after the
unit has been switched off. Allow the engine to cool
before carrying out maintenance or making adjust-
ments.
• If the machine hits a foreign object, stop the engine,
disconnect the ignition cable, check the machine
thoroughly for damage and repair any damage be-
fore restarting and operating the machine again.
• If the machine starts to make unusual noises or vibra-
tions, switch the engine off immediately, disconnect
the ignition cable and determine the cause. Unusual
noises or vibrations are normally a sign of a defect.
• Only use spare parts and accessories approved
by the manufacturer. Non-observance can result in
bodily injuries.
• Service the machine. Check for misalignment or
jamming of moving parts, breakage of parts and
other faults that could impair the operation of the
machine. If the machine is damaged, have it re-
paired before use. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained equipment.
• The engine and silencer must remain free of grass,
leaves and excess greases or carbon accumula-
tions to reduce the risk of a fire.
• Never pour or splash water or any other liquids onto
the unit. Keep handles dry, clean and free of resi-
dues. Clean the machine after every use.
• Follow the relevant waste disposal laws and regu-
lations for petrol, oil etc. to protect the environment.
• Keep the unused machine out of the reach of chil-
dren and do not allow persons who are not familiar
with the machine or the instructions to operate the
machine. The machine is dangerous in the hands
of untrained operators.
• Have your machine repaired by qualified repair
personnel using only identical spare parts. This en-
sures that the safety of the machine is upheld.
Specific safety rules
• Do not operate the machine without wearing appro-
priate winter clothing.
• Do not use the machine on a roof.
• Do not allow the engine to run indoors except when
starting the engine and transporting the snowblow-
er in and out of a building. Open doors to the out-
side; exhaust gases are dangerous.
• Always check the distance to the top and sides care-
fully before operation. Always watch out for traffic
when operating the machine on streets or curbs.
• Check the area to be worked thoroughly. Keep
the working area clean and free of toys, foot mats,
newspapers, sledges, boards, wires and other
foreign objects that you could trip over or may be
ejected from the feed screw. Look for weak spots
on docks, ramps, or floors.
• Plan your snowblower route to avoid discharging
towards persons or into areas where property dam-
age may occur.
• Do not use the machine in the vicinity of slopes,
ditches or mounds. The machine may suddenly fall
if a wheel goes over the edge of a cliff or ditch or the
edge collapses.
