TROUBLE
Engine has no or insufficient performance
Engine is pinking at full load

POSSIBLE CAUSES
carburetor soiled
air leak / intake flange not tight
electrode gap of spark plug too small
no valve clearance
decompressor blocked
too much oil in engine
valve timing disadjusted
ignition unit defective
ignition coil supplies insufficient ignition voltage
valves leaking
piston rings worn
cylinder bore worn
fuel of too low octane number
spark plug of wrong heat range
air intake system leaking
ignition unit defective
REMEDY
clean jets
tighten or exchange intake flange
exchange spark plug
adjust valve clearance
check decompressor
drain excessive oil, check oil pressure retaining valve
check postion of camshaft sprockets
check stator, rotor and electronic box, exchange defective
component
exchange ignition coil
renew valves, rework valve seats
exchange piston rings
exchange cylinder
use fuel of specified octane number
use spark plug of specified heat range
eliminate leak
check stator, rotor and electronic box, exchange defective
component
