COIL FAN CONTROLLER

This controller operates so as to maintain the condensing/evaporation temperature as constant as possible upon changes in
the unit's operating conditions, by suitably varying the operation of the fans.
- Ventilation control in Cooling
To understand the operation of the fans with the unit in chiller mode, please refer to the following graph.
The fan starts to operate at constant speed when reaching the value of the parameter FAN COOLING SET POINT - CUT
OFF DELTA + CUT OFF HYSTERESIS. When the condensing temperature reaches the FAN COOLING SET POINT,
proportional control is started, in other words, the speed of the fans varies in proportion to changes in the condensing
temperature. The speed can be controlled up to a maximum value called the MAXIMUM SILENCED SPEED; if the
condensing temperature continues to increase, the fans will be powered at maximum voltage upon reaching the MAX FAN
COOLING SET POINT. In the case where the condensing temperature decreases, the field of proportional control is
reached only after having exceeded the CUT OFF hysteresis, and then the opposite to the process described above occurs.
When reaching the FAN COOLING SET POINT, the fans will continue to operate at constant speed until reaching the CUT-
OFF DELTA, and then they will stop.
The CLIVET units do not consider the MAXIMUM SILENCED SPEED parameter. Proportional control is thus extended to
the MAX FAN COOLING SET POINT. The values of the set parameters are in brackets in the graph.
- Fan control in heating mode
The operation of the unit in heating mode involves control of the ventilation in the opposite manner. In general, the fans will
operate at maximum speed at low evaporation temperatures, and at minimum speed at high evaporation temperatures. The
graph can be interpreted using the same logic as previously.
