POSITIONING

The units are designed for outdoor installation.
• Check that the support surface can bear the weight of the unit (see weights and weight distribution on page 39) and that both
are level.
Place a layer of rubber between the base of the unit and the support (to prevent noise and vibrations).
• Respect the functional clearances.
• If the unit is installed on a balcony or on the roof, it should be placed on special antivibration mounts; in this case, the
connection tubing must be fitted with elastic joints.
• Position the unit so that the long sides are not facing prevailing wind.
• Anchor the unit to the ground.

FUNCTIONAL CLEARANCES

The choice of the location of the unit is of fundamental importance for correct operation. Obstacles that block the flow of air,
difficulty in air circulation, leaves or other objects that may block the exchanger coils, winds that contrast or excessively assist
the air flow, phenomena of stratification or air re-circulation and nearby sources of heat, can cause operating anomalies or shut-
down the machine. This is due to:
- In cooling operation, an increase in condensing pressure with a consequent decline in performance and possible shut-downs
due to high pressure.
- In heating operation, a decrease in evaporating pressure and increase in the number of defrosts, with consequent decline in
performance and possible shut-downs due to low pressure. In this regard, installations below ground level or near very high
walls must be carefully assessed (except for the indoor unit and ducted units). For extended periods of heat pump operation
with negative temperatures, it is important to assist the draining of the water produced by the defrosts, to prevent ice from
depositing near the base of the machine. In heating operation the heat pump produces a considerable quantity of condensate,
and so attention must be paid to avoid this from causing problems to persons or things. The units require minimum spaces to
operate correctly and allow access for maintenance.
