5.1 Name in the SAE J1939 network –
PGN 0x00B100
Configuration of the name under which the
BMD SAE J1939 is visible in the SAE J1939 is done using
the PGN 0x00B100 (45312 ). The name in an SAE J1939

network is structured as shown inFig. 2-4 on page 8.
The following name components can be changed:
– ECU Instance
– Function Instance
– Function
– Vehicle System
– Vehicle System Instance
– Industry Group
The new name is immediately applied and an Address
Claimed Message (seeTab. 2-8 on page 9) with the
new name of the BMD SAE J1939 is sent. This contains
the written values which may be verified.
The value is not written to non-volatile memory until after a
save command using PGN 0x00B500 (46336
section 5.5 on page 20).
