Measurement data output –
PGN 0x00FF00...0x00FFFF
Output of the current measurement data is cyclical via a
configurable PGN. After a successful logon to the SAE
J1939 network the message is sent immediately according
to the set cycle time.
The cycle time can be set using the PGN
0x00B200 (45568
) (see section 5.2 on page 19) in the
10
range from 0...65535 ms (Standard setting: 20 ms).
Turning off the measurement data output can be either
temporary using the PGN 0x00DF00 (57088
section 3.3 on page 13) or continuous by setting the
cycle time to 0 ms. In addition to the cyclical triggering of
the output this is also possible using a Request.
The Data Page and the PDU format are not changeable,
but the PDU specific (PS) of measurement data output can
be set using the PGN 0x00B300 (45824
on page 19) in the range from 0x00...0xFF (0...255
(Standard setting: 0x00). The PGN can assume values of
0x00FF00...0x00FFFF (65280...65535

3.1.1

Position

In Bytes 1 and 2 the position is output as a 16-bit
unsigned value (Little-Endian) in 0.1 mm/bit increments
(SLOT SAEds12 in the SAE J1939 standard). This means
the position lies between 0 and 6553.5 mm.
If an error occurs, the position value 6553.5 mm
(0xFFFF) is output.
3.1.2
Status
In Byte 5 the current status of the BMD SAE J1939 is
output. A distinction is made between Normal, Warning
and Error. Warning messages indicate that the BMD SAE
J1939 is approaching a critical state or is already in a
critical state. As soon as the sensor is again in the
specified operating condition, this warning message is
automatically extinguished. A warning message is a first
indicator of improper use of the sensor and should be
taken seriously.
When there is an error message a significant error has
occurred in the system. The position signal is no longer
reliable. If an error keeps recurring, the BMD SAE J1939
and its environment must be thoroughly checked. As soon
as the sensor is again in the specified operating condition,
the error message is automatically extinguished.

A detailed decoding of the errors and messages is
