5.9 CAD/CAM integration

If you use exocad ChairsideCAD as your CAD applic-
ation, you can activate the CAD/CAM integration with
DENTALCAM & DENTALCNC 8.
If you use the CAD / CAM integration, you will nest
objects completely in the CAD application. On export,
DENTALCAM will automatically calculate the job and
send it to DENTALCNC for machining.
Requires exocad ChairsideCAD 2.3 with corresponding
service release published by exocad.
When nesting objects in exocad ChairsideCAD, you
can only use the middle position of the block holder.

5.9.1 Activating the CAD/CAM integration

There are 2 ways to set up the CAD/CAM integration
with your N4+ and exocad ChairsideCAD:
exocad ChairsideCAD is installed on the CAM

computer. This is recommended as it will simplify
the configuration process.
If you want to use this configuration, only perform
the basic configuration.
exocad ChairsideCAD is installed on a separate

computer ("CAD computer") which is connected
to the CAM computer via network.

5.9.2 Basic configuration
1. Open the DENTALCNC Application settings with the
following icon in the main icon bar:

sideCAD in DENTALCNC.

If you installed exocad ChairsideCAD onto the CAM
computer, you are finished.
6. If exocad ChairsideCAD is installed on a separate
CAD computer, continue with the
configuration.
5.9.3 exocad netw ork configuration
Only perform the following procedure if exocad Chair-
sideCAD is installed on a different computer than
DENTALCAM & DENTALCNC.

5.9.4 Configuring the CAM computer

1. Access the CAM computer.
2. Create the following folder:
C:\CADshare\DentalNestingObjToMDW
3. Share this folder in your network. The CAD
computer requires read and write access to it.
5.9.5 Checking the data transfer folder set-
ting
1. Open the DENTALCNC Application settings with the
