The ideal sitting position/saddle setting is subjective.
Try to find a safe and comfortable (ideal) sitting position for the child. The
saddle post is firmly clamped on to the seat tube lug with a bolt and nut
so that it cannot turn. The saddle should be adjusted horizontally. Once the
saddle has been adjusted, carefully tighten all screws.
9. Fasten handlebar orientation and stem
The child must be able to easily reach the handlebars.
The handlebar stem with the handlebar and head tube makes up the steering unit that
transfers steering movement to the front wheel. To adjust the handlebar stem, open the
stem shaft by two or three rotations. The stem shaft can now be easily rotated in the fork.
If the stem cannot be moved after it has been loosened, a light blow on the shaft head with
a plastic hammer should suffice. This suspends the wedge effect in the handlebar shaft.
You can now move the handlebar stem up and down. You can also modify the angle of
the handlebar. Always align the handlebar so that it is at a 90° angle to the front wheel.
Following adjustment, carefully tighten the loosened stem shaft (17 Nm). Check the firm
hold of the stem by standing in front of the bike, taking the front wheel between your legs
and try to twist the handlebar and the stem.
10. Ensure secure fit of the handlebar shaft and observe the STOP marking
It is imperative to pay attention to the STOP marking.
Under no circumstances should the stem be pulled up above the STOP marking. At least
65 mm must remain in the tube of the steering head (or fork shaft). The stop marking must
not be visible.
A stem that is drawn out too far may break (risk of accident!).
11. A no-play fit of the wheel hubs and securely tightened hub axle nuts
The wheels have already been mounted. Nonetheless, please always ensure that the
hub axle nuts are securely tightened. These nuts must be tightened with a torque
of at least 20 Nm. If the front wheel is removed, when remounting you must ensure
that you secure the wheel by placing the tab washer on the axle from the outside.
Place the flat washer on top of it, and then the hub axle nut. Before tightening the
axle nut, position the wheels at the centre of the front wheel fork (and/or frame fork).
