2.2 Field of application

Please avoid exposing prosthetic components to corrosive elements such as fresh water,
salt water, acids and other liquids. Using this medical device under such conditions will
render all claims against Otto Bock HealthCare null and void.
Please inform your patients.
2.3 Function
The upper joint section (3) with lamination anchor and lower joint section (2) are connected to one
another by axle brackets (4+5) and linkage bars (6). Due to the way in which the joints move, the
stretch of the cosmetic foam cover decreases in the sitting position. The lamination anchor (1)
is attached to the residual limb bedding and constitutes the adjustable connection piece to the
coupling core. The pivot point (instantaneous center of rotation) therewith changes its position
in relation to the flexion. In an extended position, the pivot point lies at the height of the femoral
condyles and moves downward and forward with increasing flexion.
The integrated extension assist serves to control the swing phase. The tension of the extension assist
spring and the axle friction can be adjusted independently of each other (see Sections 5 and 6).
