Installation instructions

Only skilled and trained personnel (specialist personnel)
observing the installation and operating instructions
and the currently accepted codes of practice may install,
repair and perform functional testing on the Truma product.
Specialist personnel are persons who, as a result of their
specialist education and training and their knowledge and
experience with Truma products and the applicable standards,
are able to perform the required work properly and recognise
the potential hazards.
During installation, make sure that no metal chips or other
impurities get into the control unit.
When using screws with screw sealant, make sure that
the thread is free from grease/oil.

Intended use

The Mover smart M was designed for use on single-axle
caravans with an overall weight of up to 1800 kg and the
Mover smart A for single-axle caravans with an overall
weight of up to 2000 kg.
The Mover is a manoeuvring system, with which a caravan
can be moved without the aid of the towing vehicle.
The manoeuvring system must only be used on campsites
and private premises.
It is strictly forbidden to use the manoeuvring system on
public roads!

Approval

The Truma Mover is type-tested and has been awarded a type
approval (ABE) for Germany. Approval from an automotive
expert is not required (exception when installing the low
chassis kit). The ABE must be in the vehicle.
The Mover meets further requirements from EC directives and
standards (see declaration of conformity).
When installing the Mover, the technical and administrative
regulations of the country in which the vehicle was first
licensed must be observed.
Any change to the device, opening of the housing or use
of spare parts and key functional accessories that are not
Truma original parts, as well as the failure to comply with
the installation and operating instructions, will invalidate
the warranty and exclude liability claims. The device's type
approval shall also be invalidated.

Required tools and equipment

To install the Mover, you will require:
– Socket, ring or open-end spanner 10 mm, 13 mm, 17 mm
– Allen key 4
– Torque wrench (5 – 40 Nm)
– Cable cutter/crimping tool
– Drill/screwdriver/hole saw Ø 25 mm
– 2-tonne lifting platform or an assembly pit
– Sufficient lighting

Minimum dimensions for installation

As shown in the diagram, a distinction is made between
L and U profiles in the frame.

Determining the frame height

In the 350 mm area from the outer edge of the tyre at the
height of the tyre hub/tyre centre, a frame height of
min. 170 mm is required.

Determining the type of installation

1. Standard installation
Standard installation takes place with a chassis with a U or
L profile and a frame height of min. 170 mm. No special
accessories are required.
2. Installation with a chassis with a U or L profile and
a frame height between 110 mm and less than 170 mm
To balance out the height, the 30 mm spacer kit (down to
140 mm frame height) or 60 mm spacer kit (below 140 mm
frame height) is required.
3. Installation with a chassis with U or L profiles with
a frame height of less than 110 mm
With a chassis with a frame height of less than 110 mm, a
low chassis kit must be attached to balance out the height.
When using the low chassis kit, approval by an
automotive expert is required in Germany.
4. With the AL-KO Vario III / AV chassis with a frame thickness
of less than 2.8 mm, the AL-KO Vario III/AV adapter kit must
be used as reinforcement.
