• Do not activate the forceps when not in contact
with target tissue, as this may cause injuries due to
capacitive coupling with other surgical equipment.
• Do not exceed 24 watts (80 Malis units) or 450 Volts
peak to peak in COAG mode. Failure to observe mode
and setting warnings may reduce efficacy of non-stick
performance, result in unintended burns, and/or cause
failure of device insulations.
• Do not apply bipolar electrosurgical current directly to
staples, clips, or other metallic objects.
• Inspect instruments for damage prior to use. This may
be done visually under magnification or with a high
voltage insulation testing device. Insulation failures may
result in burns or other injuries to the patient or operator.
• Ensure the bipolar electrosurgical generator is in the
"off" position when connecting the bipolar cord. Failure
to observe warning may result in electrical shock or
injury to the patient or operating room personnel.
• The tips of the forceps may remain hot enough to
cause burns after the RF current is deactivated.
• Select the minimum COAG output power possible to
achieve coagulation.
• Position electrosurgical cords to avoid contact with
patient or other leads.
• Due to concerns about the carcinogenic and infectious
potential of electrosurgical byproducts (such as tissue
smoke plume and aerosols), protective eyewear,
filtration masks, and effective smoke evacuation
equipment should be used during procedures.
• Observe all additional warnings provided with the
bipolar electrosurgical generator.
• Note Instructions for Use below for additional
warnings.
Precautions
Inspect the sterile package carefully. Do not use if:
• the package or seal appears damaged,
• contents appear damaged, or
• the expiry date has passed.
Place monitoring electrodes as far as possible from
surgical electrodes when HF (High Frequency) surgical
equipment and physiological monitoring are used
simultaneously on the same patient.
Keep the forceps clean. Build-up of eschar may reduce
effectiveness. Do not activate the instrument while
cleaning, as injury to operating room personnel may
result.
