10.TROUBLE SHOOTING FOR E1X E SERIES
FAULT
Alternator does not excite
Low no-load voltage
Correct no-load voltage but too low with load
Correct no-load voltage but too high with load
Unstable voltage
Noisy Functioning
CAUSES
1) Insufficient residual voltage
2) Connection break
3) Broken rotating diode bridge
4) Insufficient speed
5) Windings breakdown
6) Broken voltage regulator
1) Low speed
2) Winding failure
3) Broken rotating diode bridge
4) Broken voltage regulator
5) Wrong setting of voltage regulator
1) Low speed with load
2) Broken voltage regulator
3) Defective winding rotor
4) Load is too high
1) Appliances with capacitors on the load
2) Voltage regulator is broken
3) Wrong connection of phases
1) Rotating mass too small
2) Uneven speed
1) Wrong coupling

SOLUTION
1) Excite the rotor using a battery
2) Reset the connection
3) Replace rotating diode bridge
4) Adjust speed regulator of the engine
5) Check winding resistance and replace damaged parts
6) Replace voltage regulator
1) Adjust rotating speed of the engine
2) Check resistances and replace damaged parts
3) Replace rotating diode bridge
4) Replace voltage regulator
5) Adjust voltage regulator potentiometer
1) Adjust rotating speed of the engine
2) Replace voltage regulator
3) Check rotor winding resistance and replace the rotor if broken
4) Reduce the load
1) Reduce capacitive load

3) Check and adjust the connection of phases
