This section describes how to commission the telephones and the answering machine on the
COMfortel 1400 for the first time in a stepwise procedure. After a successful initial commis-
sioning, you will be able to make calls. You can customise your telephone and the answering
machine using the PC configuration described at the end of this section.

Commissioning the Telephone

Requirements
– PBX, switched on (connected to 230 V mains)
– The internal telephone number for the telephone entered in the configura-
tion on the internal S
Note: Only connect one ISDN device for each internal subscriber tele-
phone number to your PBX.
– For the operation as system telephone: PBX according to the proper use
(see Important Information > Proper Use)

Insert the plug of the ISDN cable included in the package into the jack
marked with

Insert the other ISDN cable plug into the ISDN socket connected to the
PBX.
