e) Changing the fuse
The current measuring ranges are protected by ceramic high-performance fuses. If no further measurement is pos-
sible in the 10 A, mA and µA ranges, the corresponding fuse must be replaced.
Proceed as follows to replace the fuse:
- Disconnect the connected test leads from the measuring circuit and from your measuring instrument. Switch the DMM off.
- Open the housing as outlined in 'Charging and inserting the battery'.
- Replace the defective fuse with a new fuse of the same type and nominal voltage.

- Carefully replace the battery/fuse compartment cover.
Using patched fuses or bridging the fuse holder is not permitted for safety reasons. This may cause
a fire or explosion. Never use the measuring instrument when the battery/fuse compartment is
open.
f) Carrying out a firmware update
The multimeter's firmware can be updated. A firmware update allows the operating software to be upgraded following
changes or improvements. This helps to keep the device fully up to date. The update is carried out via the microSD
memory card.
Ensure that the battery is fully charged. The update must not be interrupted as this runs the risk of the measuring
instrument ceasing to function.
A firmware update is carried out as follows:
- Check the firmware version of the measuring instrument under 'Information' in the settings menu.
- Compare the version number with the new version available.
- Remove all measuring leads and switch the measuring instrument off.
- Remove the memory card from the battery compartment.
- If you are using a new memory card, ensure that the card has been formatted using the FAT32 format.
- Insert the microSD card into a reader for memory cards and connect this to a computer. Use the enclosed SD card
adapter.
- Create a folder on the memory card entitled 'fw'.
- Copy the two binary files 'CRC.bin' and 'firmware'bin' to the folder 'fw'.
- Insert the memory card into the measuring instrument and close the measuring instrument again carefully.
- Switch the measuring instrument off if this has not already been done.
- Press the four cursor buttons and centre menu button with the thumb. Keep pressing.
- Switch the measuring instrument on, then press the two buttons 'HOLD' and 'IR' at the same time 5x in quick suc-
cession. Release all buttons.
- The display shows the message 'Upgrading! Please do not power off!'. Never switch the measuring instrument off
during the update.
- The progress of the update is displayed. Once the update is complete, the measuring instrument initialises and can
be operated again as normal.
- The new firmware version should now be displayed under 'Information' in the settings menu.
