d) Changing the backup battery

A CR1220 lithium-ion button cell battery is built into the measuring instrument to allow certain parameters such as the
time and date to be retained when the main battery is being changed.
A lithium-ion button cell can last several years. The time has come to replace the button cell if time is no longer
retained when the measuring instrument is switched off. Extreme care must be exercised when replacing the backup
battery, as the entire housing must be opened to do it.
To change the battery, proceed as follows:
- Disconnect all test leads from the measuring instrument and switch it off.
- Loosen and remove the 6 housing screws on the back.
- Carefully pull the two halves of the housing apart. Tilt the
upper section carefully to the right. Ensure that no cables
are pulled out or connectors released.
- You should now be able to access the fuses and the bat-
tery compartment.
- L oosen the button cell with a small flat-blade screwdriver.
Press the gold-coloured locking plates carefully in the di-
rection of the fuses. The button cell is released and tilted
upwards.
- Remove the button cell and replace it with a new one of
the same type (CR1220).
- Repeat the steps above in reverse order to close the housing and carefully screw back together.
- The measuring instrument is now ready to use.
Never use the measuring instrument when the battery/fuse compartment is open. DANGER OF
DEATH!
Do not leave flat batteries in the device. Even leak-proof batteries may corrode and destroy the
device or release chemicals that are detrimental to your health.
Do not leave batteries unattended. They might be swallowed by children or pets. Seek immediate
medical attention if a battery is swallowed.
If you do not plan to use the multimeter for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent it
from leaking.
Leaking or damaged batteries may cause acid burns if they come into contact with your skin.
Always use protective gloves when handling leaking or damaged batteries.
Ensure that the batteries are not short-circuited. Do not throw batteries into fire!
Batteries may not be recharged or dismantled. There is a risk of explosion.
