- Connect the probe tips to the object that you want to measure. The
measured value is indicated on the display (provided that the object
you are measuring is not highly resistive or disconnected). Wait until
the display stabilises. This may take a few seconds for resistances
greater than 1 MΩ.
- 'OL' (overload) indicates that the measurement range has been ex-
ceeded or that the circuit is broken.
- After taking a measurement, remove the leads from the measured
object and switch the DMM off.
When taking a resistance measurement, ensure that the
points that come into contact with the probe tips are free
from dirt, oil, solder and other impurities. These substances
may distort the measurement.
g) Diode test
Ensure that all objects that you wish to measure (including circuit components, circuits and com-
ponent parts) are disconnected and discharged.
- Switch the DMM on and select the
- Press the 'MODE' button twice to switch to the diode measuring function. The diode symbol and 'V' appear on the
display. Press the button again to switch to the next measuring function.
- Insert the red test lead into the Ω measurement socket (10) and the black test lead into the COM measurement
socket (9).
- Check the test leads for continuity by connecting both probe tips to
one another. A value of approx. 0.000 V should be shown.
- Now connect the two probe tips to the object to be measured (di-
ode). The red test lead to the anode (+), the black test lead to the
cathode (-).
- The continuity voltage 'UF' is shown in volts (V). 'OL' indicates that
the diode is reverse-biased or defective. Try taking the measure-
ment again with the opposite polarity.
- After taking a measurement, remove the leads from the measured
object and switch the DMM off.
