11. Care and cleaning

General information

The multimeter should be calibrated once a year to ensure that measurements remain accurate.
Apart from occasional cleaning and fuse replacements, the multimeter requires no servicing.
Refer to the following sections for instructions on how to change fuse and battery.
Regularly check the device and measuring leads for signs of damage.
Cleaning

Always observe the following safety information before cleaning the device:
Opening covers on the product or removing parts that cannot be removed by hand may expose life
components.
Before cleaning or servicing the, disconnect all cables from the measuring device and all measured
objects. Power the multimeter off.
Do not use any cleaning agents containing carbon, benzene, alcohol or the like to clean the product. These may
corrode the surface of the instrument. In addition, the vapours emitted by these substances are explosive and harmful
to your health. Do not use sharp-edged tools, screwdrivers or metal brushes to clean the device.
Use a clean, damp, lint-free and antistatic cloth to clean the device, display and measuring leads.

Changing the fuse

The current measuring ranges are protected against overload by ceramic fuses. If you cannot take measurements in
this range, you will need to replace the fuse.
Proceed as follows to replace the fuse:
- Disconnect the connected test leads from the measuring circuit and from the measuring device. Power the multim-
eter off.
- Unscrew the three screws on the back of the device and carefully pull the casing apart.
- R eplace the defective fuse with a new fuse of the same type and nominal current. The fuses have the following
values:
F1 high capacity fast-acting fuse 1A/250V Dimensions 6.35 x 25 mm. Common designation F1AH250V, BS1362 or
similar.
F2 High-performance fast-acting fuse 10A/600V Dimensions 6.35 x 25 mm. Common designation F10AH600V,
TCC600 or similar.
- Close the casing carefully.
