Inserting/changing the battery

A 9 V block battery (e.g. 1604 A) is required to operate the meter. You need to insert a new battery prior to initial
operation or when the battery change icon
Proceed as follows to insert or change the battery:
- Disconnect the connected test leads from the measuring circuit and from the measuring device. Power the multim-
eter off.
- Loosen the screw on the back of the battery compartment (10) and carefully pull the battery insert out of the meter.
- Insert a new battery with correct polarity into the battery insert of the measuring device.
- Slide the battery compartment cover into the DMM and close the casing carefully.
Never operate the measuring device when it is open.
! DANGER TO LIFE !
Do not leave flat batteries in the device. Even batteries protected against leaking can corrode and
thus release chemicals which may be detrimental to your health or destroy the device.
Do not leave batteries unattended. They may be swallowed by children or pets. Seek immediate
medical attention if a battery is swallowed.
If you do not plan to use the meter for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent it from
leaking.
When handling leaking or damaged batteries, always use suitable protective gloves to avoid chemi-
cal burns.
Ensure that the batteries are not short-circuited. Do not throw batteries into fire!
Batteries (non-storage) must not be recharged. There is a risk of explosion.
Only use alkaline batteries, as alkaline batteries are more powerful and have a longer lifespan.
