11. DCF Reception

Once the sensor search has finished, the base station is starting the search for the DCF time,
the radio tower icon (P) on the left bottom flashes up.
Don't move the base station during the reception process (takes approx. 10
minutes). Otherwise the base station may not find a signal.
If you want to turn the DCF reception off during the reception process (radio
tower icon (P) flashes), briefly press the " " key.
The radio tower icon will stop flashing. Now set the time manually as described
in chapter 12.
To start a new reception process, press the " " key for about three seconds.
The base station emits a signal and the radio tower icon starts flashing.
Now the base station will start a new search for the DCF signal.
The DCF signal is transmitted from Mainflilngen near Frankfurt am Main and covers a range of
up to 1500km, in an ideal case even up to 2000km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second
in a million years!) and the date.
Clocks with a DCF receiver can receive the signal and interpret it. This means there is no manual
setting of a radio-controlled clock necessary, not even during the change between summer and
winter time.
A radio-controlled clock does not transmit signals but receives the DCF signal and interprets it.
