PRE-HEATING
WARNING:
could burst, break, or melt. This way, splinters or other particles could get into your
coffee, causing severe injuries.
TIP:
A warm cup will help maintaining the coffee's optimal temperature. As well, a
cold portafilter and filter basket can reduce the extraction temperature significantly,
thus affecting the quality of your espresso. Thus, you should pre-heat the portafilter
and filter basket with hot water from the hot water / steam wand before usage. The-
reafter, carefully dry portafilter and filter basket. With the filter basket still wet, during
the extraction, hot water could by-pass the ground coffee in the filter basket.
5. Pre-heat your cup by rinsing with hot water. For this, place your cup on the drip
tray and insert the hot water / steam wand into the cup. Then turn the selection
dial to the HOT WATER / STEAM position and back to fill the cup with some
hot water. Thereafter, place the cup on the cup warming plate on top of the
appliance.
6. By the handle, hold the portafilter under the hot water / steam wand. Then turn
the selection dial to the HOT WATER / STEAM position and back to fill the por-
tafilter with some hot water.
7. Thereafter, thoroughly wipe dry the filter basket and portafilter.
