b) Inserting battery, start-up
• Connect a new 9V compound battery to the battery clip of the smoke detector observing the correct
polarity and insert the compound batteries into the battery compartment.
• After inserting the batteries, the red pilot lamp/LED will flash approximately every 32 seconds and
thus indicates that the smoke detector is ready for operation.
• Insert the smoke detector by turning it in the clockwise direction into the mounted lower cup. If the
interlocking is proper, there is an audible click; the smoke detector must engage into the lower cup.
Please note:
Without inserted batteries, the two parts of the housing (lower cup/smoke
detector) cannot be locked for safety reasons!
