b) Batteries and accumulators

The smoke detector must always be operated high quality 9V battery pack (alkaline).
Though operation with accumulators is possible, operational safety is not guaranteed due
to the lower capacity and voltage.
The alarm dialler is operated with 4 AA batteries; operation with an accumulator is
possible, but not recommended due to safety reasons (accumulators have lower voltage
and capacity than batteries).
Additionally the alarm dialler provides a connection for an external power pack (not
included in delivery scope) In this case the batteries are used only as an emergency
power supply in case of power failure.
• Batteries/accumulators must be kept out of the reach of the children.
• Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/- signs!). In case of smoke detector, connect the 9V battery pack correctly to the battery
clip, in case of alarm dialler, correctly insert 4 AA batteries (polarity is indicated in the battery
compartment).
• In case of alarm selector, always replace the whole set of batteries, do not mix fully charged and
half charged batteries. Always use the same type of batteries of the same make. Never mix
batteries with accumulators.
• Do not leave the batteries/accumulator lying around in the open; there is a risk of their being
swallowed by children or domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/accumulators can cause burns if they come into contact with the
skin. For this reason you should use suitable protective hand gloves while handling them.
• Make sure that batteries/accumulators are not short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into fire.
There is a risk of explosion!
• Ordinary batteries must not be recharged. There is a risk of explosion! Charge only accumulators
which are meant to be recharged and use suitable chargers for this purpose.
• If not to be used for a longer period (e.g. in case of storage of alarm dialler and smoke detector)
remove the inserted batteries. This will avoid damage due to leaking of a discharging battery.
Please note:
For safety reasons, it is not possible to lock the smoke detector unless the
batteries are inserted!
