9. Operation of the alarm dialler

Two different actions can take place in normal operation:
1. Smoke alarm
On triggering a radio smoke detector "RM50" the alarm dialler "AW50" first dials the telephone
number programmed on memory location 1. If that call is accepted, the message text for smoke
alarm is played back.
If the call to the first telephone number is not accepted after about 1 minute, the alarm dialler dials,
in the same manner, the telephone numbers of the subsequent memory locations 2 and 3.

The minute is composed of 30 seconds of dialling trial and 30 seconds of playback of the
message. This ensures that the message even reaches the subscribers whose telephone
instrument has differing calling and registration signals that are not recognized by the
alarm dialler "AW50" as "Receiving".
If the call is also not accepted here then the same dialling cycle begins after a brief pause.
If nobody still accepts the call from the alarm dialler, the same double call-cycle is repeated.
If nobody still accepts one of the calls, the alarm dialler terminates the calling activities.

Please note:
Each smoke detector should be tested once a week using a test alarm.
If you wish to avoid an alarm call being initiated, then put the alarm dialler in the test mode
as described in section 8.
2. Battery run down warning
With dropping battery voltage (if batteries are fitted) the alarm dialler first plays internally, on its
loudspeakers, the message text for Battery run down warning every hour for 24 hours.
Then the telephone numbers programmed for smoke alarm are called; if a call is accepted, the
Battery run down warning is played back.
