13. Battery Replacement

A battery replacement is necessary if a small battery icon appears on the bottom of the display
of the weather station or there is nothing shown on the display any longer.
A battery symbol "TX" will show you that the battery in the outdoor sensor is weak (pay attention
to the appropriate sensor number when more than one outdoor sensor is used).
A battery icon with "RX" means that the batteries in the weather station itself are weak and that
they should be replaced.

In the case of a battery replacement of one of the units (weather station, outdoor
sensor) a new basic setting has to be carried out for all units.
This means, e.g. when the battery in the outdoor sensor has to be replaced
(display "battery empty" on the display of the weather station (10), the batteries
in the weather station have to be removed as well and the complete system has
to be started again.
For this purpose, see chapter 9.
This approach, which at first sight seems cumbersome, is necessary as the
outdoor sensor transmits, with each startup, a random security code to the
weather station.
This security code prevents the weather station from recognising other sensors
and displaying their readings.
The security code of the outdoor sensor is only transmitted after inserting the
batteries in the outdoor sensor or it is only read and saved after inserting the
batteries in the weather station.
If, for example, only the battery of the outdoor sensor is replaced, the weather
station will no longer recognise the sensor, since there is no alignment of the
security code between outdoor sensor and weather station.
