e) Basic Information Relevant to the Control of Model Helicopters

Before you fly your model, you should first familiarize yourself with the control possibilities open to you and thereby be
able to fly safely. The indoor helicopter is controlled with the aid of the two levers on the transmitter.
Depending on the remote control mode set first, the model helicopter functions are controlled as follows:
Pitch function (mode 1)
With the pitch function you can control the flying height of the helicopter (see figure 14). Control in mode 1 is carried
out with the right control lever.
To that effect, the control lever can be moved forward and backward. Unlike with other control functions, the lever does
not keep springing back to the centre position. Since the angles of attack of the rotor blades are not modifiable, setting
the flying height is effected via a common speed modification of the two rotors.
Pulling the lever towards you switches off the motors and the rotors stop. If you push the control lever forwards, the
rotors start up and increase their speed according to the position of the lever. When the lever reaches the centre
position, the helicopter should hover.
Pitch function (mode 2)
When the transmitter is switched to mode 2, the pitch function is controlled according to the same principle as in mode
1, but the flight height is controlled with the left control lever (see figure 15).
