7.1.3.1 Description of FMM-Mode
This is a multi-magnet mode in
which the max. number of
magnets (4) is assigned in the
factory parameterizing. Depending
on how many magnets are used
the values are output always
beginning with magnet 1 counting
from the connector side. If a
magnet drops out, a diagnostic
message is generated after a
configurable time "Diagnostic time
for FMM" (< 1020 ms in increments
of 4 ms) the diagnostic is reset
and the positions filled starting
from the front. If there is no
magnet in the area, the error
remains in effect. For the unused
magnets the error value
If you remove magnet C, then first
an error is recognized for all
instances and this error reported.
The time for which the error is
displayed is set in the GSD
module using the parameter
"Diagnostic time for FMM mode"
➥ ➥ ➥ ➥ ➥ 5.3.7.
After the set time has elapsed, the
magnets are reassigned from the
connector side. In the example
only three magnets are recognized.
These are assigned to positions
1...3. The missing 4th magnet is
assigned to position 4, which
keeps its error value,

If different settings (e.g. offset and
limits) are used for the various
positions, then you must take into
account the possible offset of the
magnets in Flexible Magnet Mode.
(0x7FFFFFFF) is output for position
and velocity. If there are more than
the allowed number of magnets on
the transducer, no diagnostic is
generated and the values are filled
beginning from the front.

Example:
If there are four magnets (A, B, C
and D as seen from the
connector), then magnet A
becomes position 1, B position 2,
etc, see Fig. 7-2: FMM example
