9. Inserting/changing the batteries

Check that the batteries are inserted with the correct po-
larity. The batteries should be removed from the device
if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid dam-
age through leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries may
cause acid burns when they come into contact with skin.
Always use protective gloves when handling damaged
batteries.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Do not
leave batteries lying around, as they constitute a
choking hazard for children and pets.
Do not dismantle batteries and avoid short-circuits
and contact with fire. Never recharge non-recharge-
able batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
If a battery warning is displayed, an immediate bat-
tery change is recommended, as it may affect the
parameters measured. However, the device may
continue to be used.
To open the battery compartment, unscrew the screw on the back
of the device.
Insert a new alkaline GP23A or MN21 12V (10 mm diameter x 28 mm
length) with the correct polarity (" +" = positive; " -" = negative).
Close the battery compartment cover.
Replace the batteries with new ones,
when the battery change symbol ap-
pears on the display.
