d) LEDs

An LED is simply another type of diode. The tester detects that
is connected to an LED or LED network.if the measured forward
voltage drop is larger than 1.5 V. This enables the tester to detect
two-terminal and three-terminal bicolour LEDs.
The display shows the pinout, the for-
ward voltage drop and the associated
test current.
In this example, the LED cathode pin is
connected to the green test clamp and
the LED anode pin to the red test clamp.
In this example, a normal green LED has
a forward voltage drop of 1.87 V.
The test current is dependent on the
LED's voltage drop. In this example, a
test current of 3.15 mA has been meas-
ured.
Some blue and white LEDs require high forward voltages and may
or may not be detected by the tester.
