i) Current gain (HFE)

The DC-current gain (HFE) is displayed after the special transistor
functions have been displayed.
The gain of all transistors can fluctuate
greatly, depending on collector current,
collector voltage and even temperature,
so the displayed gain value displayed
does not always represent the gain of
other collector currents and voltages.
This particularly applies for large com-
ponents.
Darlington transistors can have very high gain values and, as re-
sult, larger variations in the gain value occur.
In addition, it is quite normal for transistors of the same type have
a wide range of gain values. For this reason, transistor circuits are
often designed so that their operation is largely independent of the
absolute value of the current gain. However, the gain value dis-
played is very useful for comparing transistors of similar designs
for gain adjustment or troubleshooting.
