f) Transistor

Various types of transistors are available, such as Darlington tran-
sistors, incl. protective diode, transistors with integrated resistors
and combinations of these types. All these types are automatically
detected by the tester.
There are two main types of transistor
available: NPN and PNP. In this exam-
ple, the device has detected a PNP sili-
con transistor.
If the base-emitter voltage drop is small-
er than 0.4 V, the device determines that
is a germanium transistor. In this exam-
ple, it is a PNP model.
If the component is a Darlington transis-
tor (two BJTs connected to one another),
a similar message is displayed:
Pressing the OFF/Page button displays
the pinout of the transistor.
Here, the instrument has determined
that the base is connected to the red
probe, the collector to the green probe
and the emitter to the blue probe.
