BDS-3 Controls
20. OVERALL PITCH – use this slider to set the overall base pitch
of all channels, from 25% to 400% of the channel frequency.
In the center of the slider the overall pitch is controlled by the
external PITCH PEDAL.
21. LFO RATE – use this control to set the rate of the LFO, from
0.1 Hz to 20 Hz when the RANGE control (22) is slow; and from
20 Hz to 4.3 kHz when it is fast. Note that higher settings in
FAST range are in the audio spectrum, so can be used for basic
FM effects.
22. LFO RANGE – use this switch to select whether the LFO is
running in its SLOW range or FAST range.
23. LFO SHAPE – use this switch to select whether the
LFO waveshape is a square wave or a sine wave.
24. LFO ON/OFF – use this switch to turn the LFO on or off.
25. RUN ON/OFF – use this switch to turn the RUN effect
on or off.
26. RUN TIME – use this control to set the run time. RUN is a
form of sample and hold, where a new sample is taken each
time a channel where RUN is enabled is triggered. The longer
the time the more samples will be taken before the sampled
wave resets.
27. OUTPUT LEVEL – use this slider to set the master output
level used by sockets 17 and 28.
28. OUTPUT – use this 6.35 mm (¼") unbalanced TS jack socket
to feed the BDS-3's master output to a mixer or amplifier.
29. PITCH PEDAL – see socket 18 on top panel.
30. DECAY KILL – use this 6.35 mm (¼") TS jack socket to
connect a suitable footswitch which, when pressed,
will over-ride the channel DECAY TIME controls (7)
and cut off the decay.
31. MIDI CHANNEL SELECT – use these dip switches to set the
MIDI channel of the BDS-3:

32. MIDI THRU – use this 5 pin DIN socket to mirror MIDI input
to socket 19.
33. USB SOCKET – use this class compliant USB 2.0 Type B socket
to control the BDS-3 over USB MIDI, to access the SynthTribe
app and to update the firmware.
34. POWER BUTTON
35. DC INPUT – use this socket to connect the BDS-3 to
its 12 V 1000 mA PSU. Please use only the supplied PSU
to avoid damage.
BDS-3 Getting started
(EN) Step 3: Getting started
OVERVIEW
This getting started guide will help you set up your BDS-3 and
briefly introduce its capabilities.
CONNECTION
To connect the BDS-3 to your system, please consult the
connection guide earlier in this document.
SOFTWARE SETUP
The BDS-3 is a USB Class Compliant MIDI device, and so no driver
installation is required. The BDS-3 does not require any additional
drivers to work with Windows and MacOS.
HARDWARE SETUP
Make all the connections in your system. Keep the BDS-3 power
turned off when making any connections.
Ensure your amplification is turned down.
Turn on the BDS-3 before turning on any power amplifiers and
turn it off last. This will help prevent damage to your speakers.
WARM UP TIME
We recommend leaving 15 minutes or more for the BDS-3 to warm
up before recording or live performance. (Longer if it has been
brought in from the cold.) This will allow the precision analog
circuits time to reach their normal operating temperature and
tuned performance.
FIRMWARE UPDATE
Please check the behringer.com website regularly for any updates
to the Behringer SYNTHTRIBE app.
The app looks for the latest firmware and can update the
BDS-3; as well as allowing access to additional functions
where they are available.
