Pressing the button for chain speed selection
(32) lets you switch between chain speeds
15 and 20 m/s.
The chain speed indicator (30) shows you
the chain speed at which the tool is currently
operating by illuminating levels 1 or 2.
Level 1: 15 m/s
NOTICE! At Level 2, the chain speed is 25
m/s if you use the tool with two 8 Ah per-
formance batteries "Smart PAPS 208 A1".
Mounting the saw chain and
blade bar
CAUTION! Cutting injuries! Wear cut-
resistant gloves when working with the saw
chain or with the blade bar.
Procedure (Fig. B)
1. Switch off the tool and remove the bat-
teries (17) from the tool.
2. Place the tool on a level surface.
3. Turn the wing nut (12) and chain tension-
er screw (13) ⭯ to loosen the chain ten-
sion and remove the sprocket cover (14).
4. Remove the blade bar (7) and saw chain
(6): To remove the blade bar (7), hold it at
an angle of approx. 45 degrees and swiv-
el it upwards to make it easier to remove
the saw chain (6) from the chain sprocket
(23).
Changing the saw chain and
blade bar
Prior to changing the saw chain, the groove
of the guide rail must be cleaned of dirt be-
cause dirt deposits available can cause the
saw chain to break out of the rail. The de-
posits can also absorb the chain oil. So the
consequence would be that the chain oil
would not or only a small part of it would
reach the underside of the rail and the lubric-
ation would be reduced.

Procedure
1. Replace the blade bar (7) and the saw
chain (6).
2. Fit the blade bar (7) and saw chain (6) as
described under Installing the saw chain
and blade bar, p. 40.

will regrease after use and may leak oil if it
is stored on its side or upside down. This is
a normal occurrence and is caused by the
ventilation opening on the top edge of the
tank which is a necessary component; this
is not grounds for complaint. Since every
chainsaw is inspected and tested using oil
during manufacture, a small amount of oil
may remain in the tank after emptying, which
may slightly dirty the housing during trans-
port. Please clean the housing with a cloth.
