• Sufficient chain oil in the tank. Top up
with chain oil if necessary (Pouring in
chain oil, p. 48).
• Batteries are fully charged.
• The device may only be used with two
batteries of the X 20 V Team series
from Parkside.
Procedure (Fig. F)
1. If necessary, insert the batteries (16) in-
to the device.
2. Release the chain brake by pushing the
chain brake lever (5) against the front
handle (4).
3. Hold the chainsaw firmly with both
hands, with your right hand on the rear
handle (1) and your left hand on the
front handle (4). Your thumb and fin-
gers must tightly clasp the handles.
4. Before starting, make sure that the
chainsaw is not touching any objects.
5. To activate the device, first press the
charge level indicator button (30).
6. To switch on, press the switch lock (3)
with your right thumb and then press
the on/off switch (2). The chainsaw
runs at maximum speed. Release the
switch lock (3) again.
7. Release the on/off switch (2) to switch
off the chainsaw. Continuous switching
is not possible.
Overload indication
In case of overload, the red and yellow
LEDs of the charge level indicator (28)
flash.
Checking the charge status
of the battery in the tool
Procedure
1. Press the button for the charge level in-
dicator (30) on the control panel.
The charge level of the battery is indic-
ated by illumination of the correspond-
ing LEDs on the charge level indicator
(28).

2. Charge the batteries (16) when only
the red LED on the charge level indicat-
or on the tool (28) is illuminated.
Changing the chain speed
(Fig. E)
Pressing the button for chain speed selec-
tion (31) lets you switch between chain
speeds 15 and 20 m/s.
The chain speed indicator (29) shows you
the chain speed at which the tool is cur-
rently operating by illuminating levels 1 or
2.
Level 1: 15 m/s
NOTICE! At Level 2, the chain speed is
25 m/s if you use the tool with two 8 Ah
performance batteries "Smart PAPS 208
A1".
Mounting the saw chain and
blade bar
CAUTION! Cutting injuries! Wear
cut-resistant gloves when working with the
saw chain or with the blade bar.
Procedure (Fig. B)
1. Switch off the tool and remove the bat-
teries (16) from the tool.
2. Place the tool on a level surface.
3. Turn the wing nut (11) and chain ten-
sioner screw (12) ⭯ to loosen the
chain tension and remove the sprocket
cover (13).
4. Remove the blade bar (7) and saw
chain (6): To remove the blade bar (7),
hold it at an angle of approx. 45 de-
grees and swivel it upwards to make
