Cleaning, Disinfection
and Sterilization
The main unit, handpiece, patient cable, hand-
piece cable and charger are not sterilizable.
Clean these parts with a commonly used mild
detergent.
The File clamp, Lip clip and Contra-angle hand-
piece are sterilizable.
Pretreatment: dental pulp and dentin residues
should be removed from the accessories imme-
diately; if necessary, use a toothbrush to clean
the accessories (within 2 hours of use) with an
enzymatic detergent such as CIDEZYME, then
rinse. Do not allow residues to dry. Use only
clean, soft brushes, a clean, soft cloth or wipe
used only for this purpose to manually remove
contamination and residue. Do not use metal
brushes or straws. Check that no visible con-
tamination or residue remains and, if necessary,
repeat the pre-cleaning procedure.
File clamp and Lip clip: clean the parts with
CIDEZYME enzymatic detergent, referring to the
detergent instructions for proper use and
required application time. A detergent or ultra-
sonic bath can be used. Rinse the parts with
preferably sterile deionized water. When rinsing
the parts, open and close the clamp 4-5 times
to help clean the residue.
After cleaning the parts, place them in disinfec-
tion bath using Cidex OPA disinfectant for the
time prescribed in the manufacturer's instruc-
tions for use, then rinse with preferably sterile
deionized water. Open and close the clamp
4 – 5 times to facilitate cleaning of debris.
Dry with filtered totally oil-free compressed air
and make sure the parts are well dried before
bagging for sterilization.
Contra-angle: manually clean the outer surfaces
with the enzymatic detergent CIDEZYME, refer-
ring to the detergent's instructions for proper
use and required application time, and inside
the endodontic file retaining system (e.g., with a
syringe) and rinse with preferably sterile deion-
ized water. After cleaning the surfaces, always
disinfect them manually with Cidex OPA for the
time prescribed in the manufacturer's instruc-
tions for use, then rinse thoroughly with prefera-
bly sterile deionized water.
