EnDrive - Warnings, precautions, contra-indications, adverse reactions | 11
•
If the rotary endodontic instrument is not
properly connected to the contra-angle
handpiece, EnDrive may generate incorrect
information.
•
The use of gloves and a rubber dam is
mandatory during treatment.
•
Place a sterile disposable film on the
EnDrive screen to reduce cross contamina-
tion.
•
Do not spill water or other liquids on
EnDrive parts.
•
Take an x-ray and place the stopper shorter
than the expected working length before
using EnDrive.
•
Before starting the apex locator
readings, dry the access cavity with
cotton wool and ensure that there is no
excess fluid inside the tooth canal to be
treated. Excess liquid can obstruct
readings. Consider that a canal does not
have to be completely dry, otherwise the
device will not provide readings.
•
Be sure to avoid contact between the
instrument and any metal restorations or
gingiva.
•
The EnDrive scale does not represent a
distinct length or distance in mm or other
units of measurement. It only indicates an
estimate of the proximity of the instrument
tip to the reference point for the working
length (apical foramen).
•
Be sure to always use metal endodontic
instruments.
•
Only use endodontic instruments that are
undamaged and in good condition, within
the working life of the instrument. Refer to
the instructions provided by the instrument
manufacturer.
•
The following patient-related factors may
prevent accurate readings:
-
Obstructed canals.
-
Canals with very wide apexes.
-
Root fractures or perforations.
-
Metal crowns or bridges.
-
Restorations and metal fillers.
-
Endodontic instruments that are
much smaller than the size of the canal.
-
Endodontic instrument in contact
with the gingiva.
Batteries
•
Only use the charger supplied. The use
of non-original parts can result in safety
hazards.
•
Check the battery for leaks regularly.
•
If fluid leaks from the main unit or the
handpiece, the battery may be damaged.
Stop using the device immediately. If the
leakage occurs during charging, stop
charging. Avoid skin contact with the
leaked fluid. Contact a service centre for
battery replacement.
•
Do not recharge the battery if the
battery is suspected to be damaged.
•
If the handpiece battery does not fully
recharge in 3 hours, consider replacing it.
•
Ensure that EnDrive has sufficient
battery on both main unit and handpiece
before starting treatment. With a low
charge, EnDrive should not be used.
