4 Installation and assembly
4.3 Assembling, installing and connecting the system
Check the system for external damage before installation. Never install a damaged system; contact Graf
•
company if any damage is found.
•
When lifting the system and lowering it into place, make sure there is no danger to persons. Avoid
bumping or hitting the system under all circumstances.
•
In the vicinity of the system (≤ 20 cm), only use a hand tamper or similar for compaction. For mechani-
cal compaction, use only light vibratory plate compactors (max. 20 kN, compaction depth max. 20 cm)
at a minimum distance or with a minimum cover height of > 20 cm.
•
Use only special lubricant or soft soap to lubricate the seals. Do not use mineral oil based lubricants.
Install the system only in accordance with the installation instructions in Section 4.2. In particular, follow
•
the specifications and instructions for the respective installation situation (see Section 4.2.3.1). Contact
Graf company if anything is unclear.
Step 1:
Prepare base of the pit and bedding layer
The pit must be excavated in accordance with the installation and planning specifications (see Sec-
•
tion 4.2.3).
The base of the pit must be level and flat.
•
Prepare base of pit
Clean the bottom of the pit.
1.
There must be no hard objects such as rocks or remains of foundations at the bottom of the exca-
vated pit.
2. If necessary, make good any irregularities in the ground.
There must not be any pockets of peat, mud or other materials with poor load-bearing capacity in
the bottom of the pit.
Completely remove unsuitable materials, replace with load-bearing material and compact the re-
paired areas.
Install the bedding layer
The structure of the bedding layer depends on the soil and water conditions at the installation site. For the
next steps, follow the instructions below for your installation situation.
Installation situation A – Dry soil
Pour a layer of backfill material at least 15 cm–30 cm high onto the base of the excavation pit and level
it evenly.
Do not compact the bedding layer. The system must be able to sink in so that no cavities form un-
der the system.
Installation situation B – Damp soil
In damp soil, the system must be bedded and fixed in place on a reinforced concrete slab.
Line the bottom of the pit with geotextile.
1.
2. Install the formwork and reinforcement in accordance with the planning office's specifications and
pour the base slab.
3. Allow the concrete to harden. Do not remove the formwork yet!
