2 Safety
2.1 Safety symbols and signal words
The following safety symbols and signal words are used in these instructions:
Symbol
Signal word and meaning
Danger
This highlights imminent danger. Failure to observe this will cause death or grievous injury.
Warning
This highlights a potentially hazardous situation. Failure to observe this may cause death or
grievous injury.
Caution
This highlights a potentially hazardous situation. Failure to observe this may cause slight or mi-
nor injury.
Important
This highlights a scenario that may cause pollution to the environment or damage to the prod-
uct or nearby property.

2.2 Safety instructions for transportation, installation and
assembly
The installation of the small wastewater treatment system, pipes and shafts must be supervised at all times
by a person present on the construction site who is qualified in the construction, installation, retrofitting
and renovation of small wastewater treatment systems and septic tanks.
All transportation and installation work must be carried out by suitably skilled or qualified personnel. Local
health and safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed.
There is generally an increased risk of accidents on construction sites and when handling heavy and large
loads. Accidents involving lifting equipment and construction machinery can result in serious injury or
death. If excavations are not carried out correctly, people can be buried by slipping or collapsing pit walls.

Qualified personnel are persons who have passed a recognised examination to obtain the necessary specialist know-
ledge.
