c) Creating a station ID

A station ID is required to upload weather data. To obtain a station ID, register the weather station on www.wunder-
ground.com.
Proceed as follows (instructions may change for future versions of the website):
• Log in to www.wunderground.com with your email address and password (see section 11b for details on how to
register).
• Click "Personal weather station" (go to"More" or scroll to the bottom).
• Scroll down to "Join our Network". Here you will find use information about the weather station (steps 1 to 3), and
you can create a station ID (step 4).
• Click "Step 4: Register". Click "Send Validation e-mail" in the pop-up window.
• A Google map will be displayed in which you can mark the location of your weather station (enter your address or
zoom in/out on the map and select a location).
• Enter your altitude (to find your altitude, use a map or other publicly available data). Under "Height above ground",
enter the height of the weather station above the ground (e.g. if you live in a high-rise building). This must be en-
tered in feet (1 ft = 30.48 cm). 1 m is approximately equal to 3 ft.
In most scenarios, the outdoor sensor is mounted a few metres above the ground (e.g. 3 m / 10 ft).
• Click "Verify Location".
• Enter your neighbourhood details (your locality or the nearest large town). For weather station hardware, select
your weather station type or "Other".
Click "Submit" to display the station ID.
Note down the station ID, as you will need it to register the base station. The station ID is case-sensitive. If you
enter the station ID incorrectly, Wunderground will not be able to assign the correct location to your measurements.
• Click "Link your Data" to complete the process. You will be prompted to the enter the station ID and password in
the weather station (see section 11b).
