11. Setting up the base station

Ensure that you have finished configuring the outdoor sensor (see section 9 for details).

a) Connection

• Remove the four screws from the base station and open the cover (see image 1).
• Insert a standard-size SIM card into the SIM card slot (1). The SIM card contacts should touch the circuit board.
The SIM card must support mobile data and the SIM card lock must be disabled. Prepaid SIM cards are not
recommended, as data will not be uploaded when you run out of credit.
• Open the rubber seal on the SD card slot (5) and insert the microSD card that came with the weather station. The
contacts on the microSD card should face downwards. Carefully slide the microSD card into the slot until it clicks
into place. Press the rubber seal back into the housing.
• Insert the rechargeable battery into the holder (2) in the correct polarity.
• The LED power indicator (see marking on the cover) will turn on briefly and then flash every 3 seconds.
The battery must be fully charged before you set up the base station. To charge the battery, pull out the
rubber seal from the USB port (6) and connect the USB cable. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB
charger (e.g. a smartphone charger). Charge the battery for at least one hour.
• Connect the base station cable (3) to the solar panel cable (use the 5 m-long, 2-pin connection cable included with
the weather station).
• Connect the base station cable (4) to the outdoor sensor cable (use the 50 m-long, 4-pin connection cable included
with the weather station). The "RF" LED indicator (see marking on the cover) will turn on briefly every 16 seconds
to indicate that data is being transferred from the outdoor sensor to the base station.
Both connection cables are waterproof and protected against reverse polarity. When connecting the ca-
bles, ensure that the seal is in the correct position and that the screw connection is tight.
The "GSM" LED indicator will turn on when the weather station has established a connection with www.
wunderground.com (see following section for details).
