Step 4:
Follow the steps below to ensure that you mount the outdoor sensor in a suitable location.
Please note the following when choosing a location to mount the sensor:
• The sensor must be fully exposed to ensure that the wind speed and wind direction are measured correctly. For best
results, place the sensor at least 10 m away from buildings.
• Do not place the outdoor sensor near trees or bushes, as falling leaves may block the rain gauge.
• T he outdoor sensor can be placed at a distance of up to 500 m from the base station (with a sufficiently long cable).
The 50 m cable included with the sensor is more than sufficient for most scenarios.
• Check that the sensor is working properly before securing it in place.
The tube for the outdoor sensor can be mounted to a vertical metal pole using the mounting materials provided.
Depending on where the sensor is mounted (e.g. to a carport), you can also use an L-shaped support (used to
mount satellite dishes).
Important!
There are compass markings (9) at the bottom of the wind sensor.
Ensure that the "N" marking is pointing exactly north when securing the sensor in place. Use a compass to
find your bearings (e.g. a smartphone compass app).
If you do not have a compass, use a map to find your approximate bearings.
Use the spirit level (18) to check that the outdoor sensor is horizontal (this ensures that rainfall is measured
accurately). The small air bubble in the spirit level should be in the middle of the circle.
