6.5. Capacitance measurements
Warning !
To avoid electric shock, disconnect power to the unit under
test and discharge all capacitors before taking any
capacitance measurements. To discharge the capacitor,
short the pins of the capacitor. Avoid any contact to the pins
of a charged capacitor (Danger of electrical shock). The
multimeter can be seriously damaged when measuring
charged capacitors.
1. Set the function switch to the CAP function.
2. Plug the black test lead into your meter's COM-terminal (-
) and the red test lead into your meter's
- terminal (+).
3. Connect the test leads to the capacitor to be tested. Pay
attention to the correct polarity of the capacitor.
4. Read the measurement value. The display will indicate
the proper decimal point value.
