oil to flow into the RMV. You only need the air pressure!
Keep the bottle squeezed and observe the delivery tube.
You will see how the air bubbles move towards the rear
wheel. Continue in this way until all the air bubbles have
been forced out of the tube.
•To finish, do not forget to turn the metering knob back to its
original position, or re-adjust it (see section 7.7 Metering).
NOTE!
Do not use a pump or compressed air for
bleeding.
If you have a brand new Scottoiler and air bubbles
appear repeatedly, the only solution is to be
patient or to try again the next day. There is a
type of sponge above the valve in the RMV which first has
to become fully saturated with oil. Furthermore, all the
connections must be watertight.
7.7 | Metering
Turn the metering knob clockwise to increase the flow rate.
"Prime" is the maximum setting. Turn the metering knob
anticlockwise to reduce the flow rate. The Louis Edition
Scottoiler is closed below "Min".
Please note that weather conditions (heat
and cold) influence the flow rate. 1-2 drops
per minute are quite sufficient to ensure optimal
lubrication under all conditions and thus extend the life of
your chain without the wheel being spattered with oil. When
temperatures fall below freezing, it is advisable to open the
adjuster knob further, but never exceeding a flow rate of 2
drops per minute onto the sprocket.
WARNING!
Risk of accident!
If the flow rate is too high, there is a risk of
the rear wheel becoming soiled with oil, and a
crash may be caused as a result.
7.8 | Modifying the dispenser plate (part 14)
The dispenser plate can be shortened using a saw
or side cutters.
