3.2 | Explanations of symbols
The following symbols and signal words are used in these
instructions for use, on the Scottoiler or on the packaging.

4.1 | Intended use
The Louis edition Scottoiler is an automatic chain lubricating
system. It does not require an energy supply and is suitable
for all types of chain. The reservoir can be installed just
about anywhere and works in any inclined or horizontal
position. The system is controlled by the vacuum generated
by the running engine. It operates by gravity and lubricates
the chain fully automatically. A minute quantity of oil
continually drips onto the drive chain, creating a lubricating
film that is constantly refreshed. The drop of oil runs onto the
chain and is uniformly dispersed into the links by centrifugal
force. This keeps the chain ideally oiled at all times.
Only use the Scottoiler as described in these instructions.
Any other use is considered improper use and may result in
material damage. The manufacturer or supplier accepts no
liability for damage caused by improper or incorrect use.

4.2 | Safety instructions

Risk of accident!
• Installing the Louis Special Edition Scottoiler
correctly requires technical know-how – never
allow chain oil to get into the tread of the
rear tyre.
• An incorrect vacuum connection can
compromise the function of the engine and
cause damage to it as a result of lean-burn.
• Before each ride, make sure that the
Louis Special Edition Scottoiler is installed
correctly and is fully functional. This applies
in particular for the laying and alignment of
the delivery tube to the chain and for the oil
tightness of the system. The delivery tube
must not come into direct contact with the
turning wheel, the chain or the teeth of the
sprockets. The flow rate must be set so
sparingly that only the chain is oiled to a
useful extent, and not the surrounding area.
• Inspect the tyre tread, and if you find any
traces of oil, clean them off thoroughly
and establish the cause before riding your
motorcycle again: align the delivery tube
better, reduce the flow rate of the oiler.
Risk of fire!
• The components on the Louis Special Edition
Scottoiler must not under any circumstances
come into direct contact with the exhaust or
hot engine parts.
Danger for children!
• Keep the Scottoiler and its accessories away
from children under eight years old.
• The kit includes small parts which could be
